To begin, I am not one to read or watch sci-fi or spiritual genre novels, so when this book was recommended to me, I was a bit apprehensive about reading it. Nonetheless, I decided to delve into it with an open mind. I'm glad I did! This book does in fact have some portion of it's content devoted to various levels of spirituality, as describe by the author. Not so much however that the story line is overwhelmed by this facet. It's good, interesting and suspenseful reading, with twists and turns unlike anything I've read before. Don't let any preconceived notions of spirituality stop you from reading this book. Read it. For those readers who are interested in the lost continent of Atlantis and the work of Edgar Cayce, Dan Ford's novel, "The Evolution of Adam" is a must read. Edgar Cayce's principles are expertly woven through this narrative about a group of reincarnated souls from Atlantis who are trying to achieve spiritual enlightenment. Before they can attain that goal, they must stop the evil forces that are close to finding the lost power source of Atlantis. The characters, good and bad, are beautiful, articulate, and well developed, and the author provides meaningful insights into their motivations and desires. Mr. Ford's knowledge of the Bahama Islands and their topography, marine life, and politics enables him to create a rich landscape which makes the reader want to fly to Bimini and join the campaign. Reading the novel is almost as good as the time travel and out of body experiences that Ford's characters learn to enjoy. I look forward to the next installment.
An easy read which immediately transforms you into each character's persona. The author has a gift for describing each character and location in such detail that you feel like your right there. Now for the genre of the book, this book will definitely open your mind in the spiritual aspect of life. Personally, I have a skewed idea of the human sprit and soul. This book confirmed that I am not far off from my so called skewed ideas. I hope this author is in the process of writing to continue this novel. We humans need to be taught more about our inner soul and sprit in ways that we can digest and understand better. Perhaps then we will get it. It would make a great movie and or television series for which I feel the Composer John Williams would be proud to do the music for. If you don't know who John Williams is, perhaps it's time for you to do some research and explore a side of you that you never thought you had. Enjoy the journey during your read. I look forward to reading it again once the copy I have read is replaced with another copy as I passed this book onto someone who I believe will benefit from it. Pay it forward people Pay it forward.

Within the realm of life there are high beings that might control your every thought and movement without you knowing. The Evolution of Adam is a multi-complex novel introducing Spirits of Consciousness that willingly enter the minds and bodies of others in order to help them find their pasts and ignite their present. “This novel begins with an allegorical tale depicting the origin of humanlike animals that evolve from purely instinctual and reactive creatures, to ones having sentience and an inherent consciousness of individuality. This evolutionary movement is instigated by highly evolved spiritual entities that are responsible for all creations within the Earthly as stated on the back cover.” As we meet the spiritual beings and learn about the primary quest we understand that the story is being narrated to relate the events about a group of reincarnated souls from Atlantis. Their primary purpose is to change the ways of those with evil within them, teach spiritual enlightenment and create a world where we understand the goodness in others and seek to help those in need. In order to accomplish these goals you will meet characters that will become part of this new realm, others who will try to destroy what has already been created and some who just want plain power, greed and revenge. The prize the lost power source of Atlantis. The settings are many as the author takes us to the Bahama Islands, describes the waters in depth, the land and the people while enticing readers to learn more. There are spiritual beings or entities the author calls Zenithians who embody themselves within the soul, minds and thoughts of the characters within the present. These beings created are the ones responsible for the Earthly Realm and all of its creations.
In the present as the story moves forward we meet Adam and Buck who are pilots and whose plane is about to crash and for some reason with the help of an inner voice and powers that have been unleashed but unknown to Adam as yet, he manages to land the plane. Then Adam explains to his friend about this incident and the second that occurs in the park where he feels that he had an out of body experience. He went for a walk in the park and found himself sleeping on the ground and thought that he was inside a sea gull and then on the “bridge of a ship heading to sea.” But, he was not just telling his feelings to Buck but to his girlfriend Tonya who was skeptical about both incidents and became angry as he spoke, Her reaction was out of character and their relationship quite structured, organized and tailor made to fit each of their jobs and personalities.
Buck and Adam meet two archeologists and things start to heat up and change at this point. We meet Melanie who innocently becomes part of this entire mission to change the mindset of people, change her life from that of a hooker and is approached by a man named Mark who convinces her to join what is called The Miracle Center. Spiritual characters and those within this group that are there to help her find her way in life and much more. Teaching her and others what powers they have and will attain in order to help others.
Dorad and Leo are two of the spirits that are watching the actions of Melanie as she begins to transform. Carron is the third as she and Dorad have taken up residence in Adam and Tonya’s minds and bodies and often control their thoughts, actions but not who or what they really are. Adam and Buck meet Antonio who is Buck’s life partner and they discuss the situation under the amazing coconut palm trees in Bimini. The main thrust of the conversation was Adam’s experiences and the underwater ruins that were supposed to be “Remains of the lost continent of Atlantis and the Fountain of Youth.” George Sanders and Harry Percel are the two archeologists that approached Adam and Buck in a bar and from that point on they became immersed in their project related to a man named Edward Cayce whose readings and findings created a certain prejudice concerning what the structures might be and the missing ruins of Atlantis
Melanie made the decision to fulfilling her part “in completing this important place of allowing a significant segment of his Spiritual Family to evolve towards Transcendence.” Leto watched this scene as Dorad joined in. But, next we meet Diana the one catalyst who will trigger the danger, animosity and try to pit everyone against each other. The antagonist of the story who without there might not be a conflict within the last part of the novel making it a thriller/mystery. Diana they hope will change and transform but when you meet her has her own agenda and endless wealth. Enter in another character named Cleito whose relationship and connection to Melanie becomes clear as the plot becomes more complex and Melanie takes on a new role. Tiber/Cleito is one and the same and within Chapter 5 their roles are defined and more about the entities and the spirits are clarified. Tiber even expands and explains the many definitions and examples of Supreme Consciousness.
Diana comes front and center in her desire to discover the ruins of Atlantis and she will stop at nothing to get what she wants. Ruthless, beautiful and manages to snare the attention of the archeologists by providing them funding for the search, she demands to become their partner and take part in each event. Each one of the other characters has some form of spiritual powers and each one will get more powerful as the story continues and as they travel within the Spiritual timeline and at times have Out of Body experiences.
The final sections or chapters of the book focus on lengthy explanations of the higher beings, the purpose of the expedition and how Melanie and Mark as well as Tonya become part of the project. But, Diana is ruthless and attempts to deter and stop Adam and the others from achieving their goals. How do souls evolve? Just what changes do they all undertake? What will endanger them on the dives? Is there such a thing as spiritual destiny? Can they unite with the Supreme Consciousness and an all-knowing, god-like figure? How can they stop Diana? Diana is rich, powerful and does not want to give up what she has? Can they convince her?

Discussing the point of structure with Diana and talking about what they found is the focus of Chapter 9 titled the Search where you can join the team on their dive, enter the cold waters and listen as Diana asks George about the damage that would occur if they let everyone know about what they found. Would there be many boats and divers trying to explore the area? They were holding back from the Bahamian Government already until they analyze the find. The Sea Venture and the Royal Athenian are the vessels in question and Diana had full control of both. As we learn more about Melanie her new role and her feelings for Mark explained in detail in pages 339- 340. Melanie even connected with Tonya who at times feels left out. Diana appeared cordial and greets everyone. Talking to Justin now part of the team was enlightening. Teams of explorers entered the waters and would not waste time as Diana seemed disturbed about the previous night’s activities and had Tyrone to take care of her needs.
Traveling through the Spiritual Timeline kept her centered and on point. She needed to be taken in this incarnation and the reason for the Spiritual Timeline. But, how would she penetrate into anyone’s individual privacy? There were entities that would reincarnate in this existence in order to influence her goals. The author relates on page 346 the how Edgar Cayce defined several trances and the classification of souls on earth at the time of Atlantis. You need to learn that for yourself and the two classifications and much more as Diana is aware of these definitions making it imperative to reject the transcendental nonsense. Her goal to create a utopian existence in the physical environment based on her beliefs and efforts, which within the remainder to the chapter the author explains.
The dialogue at times seems controlled and the characters are able to interact through the narrator in an organized and methodical manner. The scenes are described by the narrator quite vividly and are presented in a rigid and formal manner in some cases. Some of the responses are quite unique and different. The characters at times seem to care about each other yet strained in their conversations as Adam and Tonya often find ways to share their thoughts and yet bring Diana down.
Diana is suspicious of Melanie and Mark and has them watched. Using the Timeline she manages to have an Out of Body Experience to ending up in the Miracle Center where Mark took Melanie. Derek Romano is the man who runs the center and Diana is concerned about Melanie’s powers and how they will affect her mission. Added in she becomes aware of Cleito and wants more information about her and has figured out a way to get it. But, then the story once again shifts to the archeologists and Adam, Antonio, Tonya and Buck who is now convinced there is more to the dive and has brought in someone else. Diana is shrewd, suspicious and manages to overhear much of what Adam and his team are saying without anyone knowing it and yet somehow she is blocked with a privacy block which sends her back to her suite but how?
Melanie was smart and although Diana thought she had the situation under control she did not. Thinking that she had the situation running in her direction she did not realize that Melanie overheard her plans and would now have to find a way to protect her new friends. Diana’s past lives are revealed and her relationship to some of the other characters might change the way readers view her but her intentions are dangerous and the crystal in question could destroy nations if in the wrong hands. Just how will this all turn out and who will become the victor? Diana cannot bare to live without her power and wealth. Each character evolving and developing powers of their own and the quest to find the ruins of Atlantis is the goal but will they succeed? An ending that is fast paced, powerful and a thriller that leaves many lose ends letting you know that Diana and Tyrone are not done yet and Adam and his group still have a fight on their hands. The Evolution of Adam more like the evolution of mankind in a spiritual way.

Dan accomplishes all this, in part, through his vivid description of the Bahamas, transporting you - body and mind - to hidden, mysterious ships where most of the drama unfolds.
In all, the author taps into the growing philosophy among many that a universal consciousness connects us all through space and time. Here, we are catipulted through ancient teachings about the yearning to love one another, and challenging us to redefine what it means to be human.
